Well, what an incredible event this was.
This event was the very start of many more conversations to be had with our Active Inclusion – Allied Health Pathway project. We gathered like minds together to discuss the complexities of para classification from a strengths-based perspective & was taken through a very helpful resource now available from Paralympics Australia to help more people & professionals understand classification better.
You can check it out here; https://www.paralympic.org.au/the-start-line
Our aim is to elevate Allied Health Professionals and empower them with education & understanding for their participants desired outcomes.
Our role is to link Allied Health Professionals with these amazing resources & the right people to support them ultimately supporting their participants.
We are also showcasing the grassroots sport, fitness & recreational inclusion programs that already exist on the Gold Coast for enhanced participation choice for People with Disability in the form of an online directory. This directory is being added to all the time & can be viewed here; https://gcrs.com.au/active-inclusion-directory/
A huge thank you to our presenters;
Georgia Munro-Cook & Prof Simone Fullagar from Griffith University
Emma Beckman & Natalie Charlton from @Paralympics Australia
Your insights & knowledge are appreciated.
Where to next?
As we continue to have these conversations we will pave the way for better outcomes & more choice for PwD in the sport & recreation sector.
If you would like to join the conversations, please reach out AIP@gcrs.com.au and join our growing Community of Practice.
