Welcome

Gold Coast Recreation & Sport Inc is a community-based organisation which provides sport and recreational opportunities for people with disability.

We are an organisation that has been operating for over 30 years and are dedicated to a philosophy which reflects its beliefs, values and attitudes.

This philosophy has guided the interactions, relationships, practices and culture of the organisation since its inception.

Organisational Philosophy

GCRS deeply values its history, its current standing within the community and its future promise.  GCRS has and will continue to maintain its original focus of specialising in what it does best.  This is in recognition of the significant benefit recreation and sport can play in the lives of all people and upholding the right of people with a disability to participate.

We are committed to our mission of enhancing the quality of life of people with a disability by facilitating opportunities for participation and achievement in recreation and sport.

The language we use and the interactions we have with people are critical in shaping and reflecting our thoughts, beliefs, feelings and concepts.  GCRS insists on interacting with people with a disability in a manner that ensures dignity, recognises ability, encourages appropriate social interaction, and demonstrates due respect for age, gender, socio-economic and other personal circumstances.

We insist on promoting a positive image of people with a disability.

GCRS’s dedication to professionalism guides its daily practice and ensures the quality of the service it provides.  This dedication is intrinsic to the programs GCRS provides, the people it employs, interactions with colleagues and stakeholders, and the links forged within the local community.

We strive for the highest of standards in all that we do.

GCRS is committed to meeting its legal and ethical obligations in its roles as a service provider, an employer and a community-based organisation.  GCRS aims to ensure that its management committee, employees and volunteers demonstrate the highest level of responsibility when performing their duties

We promote the concept of mutual responsibility in upholding the values of the organisation.

Boys Fishing TripThere were plenty of laughs and even more great memories created. From taking turns shopping and scanning items, to cooking and cleaning in the kitchen, the boys stepped up and shared responsibilities every step of the way. On the boat, they worked together as a team to land a massive shovel nose shark, took turns skippering, and enjoyed the simple pleasure of hanging out like good mates do.A big thank you to the incredible staff who facilitated this trip. Your support, guidance and willingness to create these opportunities is what makes experiences like this possible.#boysfishing #fishing #fishingtrip #gcrs #gcrs #goldcoastrecreationandsport ...
