This initiative focuses on professional development for Allied Health Professionals (AHP). Our program offers targeted workshops, equipping AHP’s with the knowledge & skills to provide People with Disability (PwD) increased opportunities for participation and pathways into sport, fitness and recreation activities.
We will build on an already established and successful Community of Practice (CoP), a platform for professionals to share best practices, challenges, successes & foster a supportive community.
Additionally, we will provide a platform for AHP to explore the classification process & pathways in elite sport.
This program is supported by community connections and partnerships between Paralympics Australia, Active & Healthy Alliance Gold Coast, Gold Coast Health & City of Gold Coast. These partnerships enable a holistic approach to inclusivity and support for PwD.
Initiative Aims:
To make the Gold Coast one of Australia’s most active, healthy, and inclusive cities by promoting regular physical activity through accessible and inclusive services.
By mentoring, educating, and supporting local sport, fitness, and recreational organisations, we aim to help them integrate and deliver inclusive programs within their mainstream services.
Through collaboration, we will enhance the community’s wellbeing, celebrate diversity, and ensure access to opportunities in sport, recreation, and wellness for all residents, including those with disabilities.
